About Sara

"You are a wonderful person. I'm so glad that you were the one who was with us in this time of need. You were a real beacon of light and you helped to steady and calm the waters. Without you I'm afraid it just wouldn't have been what my wife would have wanted. You are a lovely person who has personally touched me and I will never forget your kindness."
- Magnus, husband

Hello, I am Sara.

During my 8 years as an elementary and high school teacher, I was humbled and inspired by the opportunity to help shape and mold lives for the future. Every life has incredible significance and value - there are no exceptions. I loved my teaching career, but I wanted to be able to serve others in a unique way that is fitted to my desire for compassion and empathy; I wanted to help others the way I would hope someone would help me when that time came.

I chose to become a Funeral Celebrant, and I am honoured to work and walk with incredible individuals and families through some of the most painful and difficult times in their lives. I help to ease the burden of planning and officiating a funeral or memorial service by collaborating with the family to create something that meets their specific needs.  As unique as their loved one was; so unique is the service where they get the chance to say their final goodbyes.

I have been trained and certified with Insight Institute to design a funeral service or celebration that fits who the deceased was, and I am now honoured to serve as a Celebrant Trainer with Insight, teaching others to do the same.  I earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English and Theatre & Film from McMaster University.  I have extensive experience in event planning and both speaking and acting at numerous schools, theatre stages, youth groups, women's events and overseas training workshops on various topics including "Living Your Life on Purpose" and "Walking with the Brokenhearted".

I live in Milton, Ontario with my husband and two children and have worked with families all over southern Ontario.

It would be an honour to serve you and your family through this difficult but important time of creating a service that your loved one deserves.  Feel free to contact me here.
